Put your head down!

Well, I don't know how...but our little Wyatt flipped upside down. Miss Molly has been cooperative since the start, with her not-so-little head pointing down. But Wyatt has taken a bit longer to get with the program. Just when everyone thought they had run out of room to make such big moves, he somehow squeezed himself around and is now facing mommy's feet ;) So, if he stays this way, then we may actually be able to avoid a c-section. Here's hoping!

If you're wondering who/what the elephant in the room is...that would be me ;) 31 weeks down, hopefully at least another 4 to go. Steve is starting to panic a little bit about their impending arrival. Not in an, "I'm freaked out" kind of way. But, more of an "Oh, my god, that's not far away" kind of panic. He's been very sweet though and has washed the babies' clothes and put together both cribs for me. The room is starting to look really cute and happy - pictures to follow once it's done. Until then, enjoy the largess ;)

Okay, well...not really "rock-a-bye" but certainly cute. In my 3 weeks of modified bedrest I've had to find new ways to entertain myself. So, I've spent some time painting (with safe craft paint) the letters we got to hang on the walls of their room - pictures to follow. And, alas, today I succumbed to my first fun baby purchase. I mean, really, who can resist a giraffe or a cow rocker?!?!? They were just too darn cute. The babies will just have to wait until Christmas, or their first birthday, to have them...guess that means I'll have to wait too ;)

Contraction Action - it is NOT like Conjunction Junction

Well, the past two weeks have certainly been eventful. Steve traveled to San Jose the weekend before last and, as Murphy's Law would have it, I was sent to the hospital with contractions while he was away. Needless to say, he was prety panicked and upset that I was by myself...but all is okay. Because of the frequency of the contractions (an average of 4-6 per hour), the doctors put me on modified bed rest. So, as my second week of not working comes to a close, I'm adjusting. The real worry has been the stress that the contractions are putting on the babies, and the possibility of them being strong/frequent enough to actually rupture their water membranes. So, for now, I'm taking it easy. At our last appointment with the perinatologist on Monday, she guestimated another 4-5 weeks but doesn't anticipate them waiting much beyond that. We're hoping they stay put for as long as possible, even though it's getting pretty darn crowded in there ;) They each measured approximately 3.5 pounds as of Monday, so we've got a couple of little porkers ;) But, good growth is a good sign :) Friends (and Steve) have said I'm all tummy, but seriously...those babies only account for a small percentage of the weight gain that makes me gasp a little - yes, I know it's all for a good cause.

Well, it's been an eventful week and a half. Last Wednesday, I started having contractions which has been oh so pleasant. Right now, they're not frequent enough to warrant intervention, but the babies & I are being monitored closely. And, when I say "closely" - I mean it. Our hi-risk OB has put me on a home monitor, to watch the contractions...so, I hook myself up to it for 1-2 hours each day...or more, if I'm feeling things. The technology is pretty amazing, and it does give me an excuse to be totally still during the time I'm wearing it, but I also feel like I'm under surveilance a little bit ;) LOL

The upside to visiting the doctors three times in the past 10 days is that we got our first 3D shots of Wyatt and Molly...Wyatt definitenly looks like his daddy - he's got his nose, poor kid. Looks good on Steve, but not so much on a little tiny baby ;) He is definitely the more sedate of the two. His sister is constantly moving around - she's already a little diva. I think we're in for it!
